Feature Film Synopsis

Natasha's a fantastic storyteller. But are her stories real - or are they just fairytales?
Meet the musical heroine of this adventure story – NATASHA, she’s just ten years old. Natasha has just moved to a new city – a new home - and a new school. She feels anxious sometimes but when she plays her violin it calms her. Is this magic? Maybe…
Natasha makes a new friend, FERN, the loud little boy lives in the apartment right next door to her and he believes in Water Dragons! On a stormy night, Natasha’s mother is rehearsing at their neighborhood theater. Below the wooden stage Natasha and Fern find a secret room of props and exquisite costumes. Hanging from the walls are enormous paintings, showing scenes of a very different enchanted forest. The largest painting depicts a gnarled old gum tree (with no leaves), a fairy with a dog under a bright full moon. Fairy dust seems to float out of the painting. Now, every dress rehearsal Natasha and Fern find themselves discovering more treasures in the dark, secret prop room. The costumes remind Natasha of the pictures in the old Australian fairytale book that her Grandmother is reading to her. Natasha sings out a fairy spell from the book for Fern, runs her bow across her violin and POOF! Suddenly, Natasha and Fern are standing beside an old tree (bare of leaves), in a bush-land that seems to be …dying, fading away. There are burnt, broken branches everywhere, the flower gardens are ruined and the tiny, eclectic fairy homes are destroyed!

A forest foe named RAKE is destroying this magical, Australian bush-land! But Natasha and Fern will summon up all their music and artistic talent - join a mob of hilarious creatures that can dance and sing - and save the bush-land home. This is the place where all stories and legends - myth and magic - music and art and fairytales - first began.
